The intent of this post is to outline what data we (160th Special Operations Regiment) collect about you and how we use it.
We require that you provide us an email address, but only upper-echelon staff and website administrators can see it. Your IP address is recorded when you browse the site while logged in to your account. Data is collected for Google Analytics. We will never give information that we collect to any other third party.
During the registration and application process, you must provide your valid email address in order to receive an activation link. This address is also used to provide updates to subscribed topics and for self-service password resets.
If there ever comes a time that we wish to, for example, email some information directly to you and only you, we will ask for your permission first. We currently have no plans to send out mass emails to all our members.
Your Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number that uniquely identifies your connection to the Internet. It can be used to determine your rough geographical location.
We record your IP address when you visit the site while logged in to your account. This is used to display your username at the bottom of the forum homepage if you are actively browsing the site. Your current IP address is also recorded when you make a forum post. This is a built-in feature of the forum system we use, and since disabling it would be difficult, I think it's not a big deal to leave it in.
As with email, your real-time IP address is only visible to staff and admins. The IP address associated with forum posts is also visible to members with special forum admin privileges.
This website uses Google Analytics to collect information to help us measure traffic, track usage, and identify potential areas for improvement.
Google collects your IP address, technical specs (OS, browser type, screen resolution, etc.), and how you browse/use the site. We have not authorized Google to share any of this data to third parties.
